According to Vanguard Nigeria sports online news of 6th March 2018; Nigerian Junior Fencer, Egbesemirone Oritsematosan, has made an imprint of his name in Nigerian history by becoming the first on the podium for the Cadet, Junior, Fencing, after he won a bronze in Lagos during the 2018 African Fencing Championship.
Egbesemirone in his first experience at international tournament ranked 7th at the tournament with 21 points which he made to become a medallist among the representatives from other 12 countries.
Also speaking on the success of the competition about the female fencing category, Nigeria also qualified for the semi-finals however they lost to Togo but were rewarded with a bronze for the points made so far.
